The Westing Game
This is the newly released 25th Anniversary edition of a Newbery classic! One fateful day, sixteen people gather for the reading of Samuel W. Westing's will. To their surprise, the will turns out to be a contest, challenging the heirs to find out who among them is Westing's murderer. Forging ahead, through blizzards, burglaries, and bombings, the game is on. Only two people hold all the clues. One of them is a Westing heir. The other is you! A creative mystery for ages 12 and up.
Reading Tip From Hedgie
At this time each year, families tend to gather. What could be better than sitting down together and sharing a favorite book or story, perhaps in front of the fire? Adults, children, and teenagers all enjoy being read to, especially favorite children's books which bring back memories and help create new ones. Read together. It's an experience that will last.

Great Books for Me Too?
Research has proven how important it is
to model reading to children. At Hedgehog Books we've made that even easier. Check out our
Techie's favorite Grown-up Books for 2003, including books like Probable Future, Peace Like a River, Mystic River, City of Light, and How to Cook a Tart,
The Pleasure of My Company If you're familiar with Steve Martin's comedy and roles like the firechief in Roxanne that he wrote for himself, you realize he's a comic genius with a heart. In The Pleasure of My Company, we read the story of an obsessive-compulsive man who studies life in details we can't see or imagine. At times the story is laugh-out-loud funny and at others it's heart-rending. Told in the first person, we come to love the character, and it's clear the voice and character come from Steve Martin. While short (163 pages), this is a thoroughly enjoyable book.

A Note to Teachers: We know you don't have much time, but if you get the inclination, we now welcome teacher reviews for all of our books. If Hedgie hasn't done a review, a teacher review will be selected at random to be the main review. Put in your two cents about what students should read! Just go to the book you want to review and Add A Teacher's Review (Note, you don't have to fill out the entire form - pick the sections that are right for your review).
Thinking of sending books as gifts? On our checkout form, we've added the option to include a short message to the recipient of the books.
