Vanya
Vanya Jackowski, founder and CEO of Hedgehog Books, comes
from a long line of story-tellers and enthusiastic readers.
She has spent the past 20 years collecting (and reading!)
children's books. Her interest in reading aloud began with
the birth of her children, but she is best known for reading
aloud to her students. Vanya is thrilled to spread her knowledge
of great books through Hedgehog Books.
Vanya has taught elementary and middle-school children for
the past 10 years. She mentors new teachers, and has helped
her district establish math and social studies programs. She
lives with her family in Northern California.

Maureen
Maureen Medeiros has been an upper-elementary teacher since
1993. Her mother, who also was a teacher, taught her how to
read at a young age and Maureen has been an avid reader ever
since. She enjoys seeing 9-12 year-olds benefit from the powerful
perspectives and knowledge that excellent literature can provide.
Maureen earned her Bachelors Degree in English and her Masters
Degree in Education at UCLA. In addition to teaching, she has
been involved with her district's language arts and technology
committees, and has helped train new teachers. She lives in
Northern California.

Lavonne
In
addition to her standard teaching credential, Lavonne Marafino
has resource specialist, learning handicapped, and adult education
credentials. Lavonne brings Hedgehog over 30 years of experience
in special education, child advocacy and advisement, and diagnosis
and remediation. She is also a Linda Mood-Belle specialist.
She
lives in Saratoga, California with her husband.

Kristen
Kristen White Barrett, a Hedgehog Books founder, has been in
the field of education since 1989. She has been an avid reader
for most of her life and credits her first grade teacher for
her love of books. Kristen has been a teacher in both the intermediate
and primary grades and has seen how children of all ages can
appreciate and benefit from hearing the written word aloud.
Kristen has her Masters Degree in Education, as well as her school counseling credential. She lives in Northern California with her husband, Ryan, in a home filled with books. |
