Recommended this month (for little ones)

Kiss Good Night Outside, the wind blows and the rain comes down. Inside, it is Sam's bedtime. Mrs. Bear reads him a story, tucks him in, and brings him warm milk. "Are you ready now, Sam?" she asks. "I'm waiting," he says. What else does Sam need before going to sleep?

Recommended this month (for early readers)

Olivia Saves the Circus It is not often that a sequel to an award winning book shines as brightly as the first, but OLIVIA SAVES THE CIRCUS has done just that. Irrepressible Olivia is once again gracing the pages of an absolutely charming and creative story. Parents will smile in recognition of the stories children tell, and children will once again, fall in love with Olivia's spirit.

Recommended this month (for fluent readers)

A Wrinkle in Time In times of crisis, children usually feel powerless. A Wrinkle in Time is an empowering story of a child who makes the right choices in the classic war between Good and Evil. We strongly recommend this book for children to see the importance of the struggle to stand up for what they believe in.

Book Series of the Month

My Father's Dragon The classic fantasy trilogy of Elmer Elevator and the flying baby dragon has delighted children and their parents for generations.

Our Special Feature this month...
Visit our homepage this month and you'll see our special feature: a great book on parenting,
Dear Mom and Dad: Reflections on Parenting from Your Child. This is a lovely book to give to a new parent, and a wonderful book to share with older children who may even have a few thoughts of their own to add.

Reading Tip from Hedgie:

Read to your kids! It is important to read to your children throughout their childhood. They will become lifelong readers. It doesn't matter what age they are, reading time is a great time to connect. I still read to my 15-year old daughter and sometimes she reads to me. Remember to get creative and use voices and characterizations to make the stories come alive. Don't be afraid to be dramatic. Children love it!

Books for me too???
Research has proven how important it is to model reading to children. Now at Hedgehog Books we're making that even easier. When you check out, just
click on "Yes, Show me the Grownup Books". You can also get there through links at the bottom of our home page or by clicking
here. As much as we love children's books, we know there's nothing like curling up with a good book of our very own!
